Dune London is exploring strategic options for its business, including new investment, a partnership or a change in shareholding structure, as its founder and chairman Daniel Rubin prepares to retire, according to The Industry.fashion.
The British footwear and accessories brand has appointed FTI Consulting's mergers and acquisitions team to lead the review. The process is reportedly at an early stage, and no decision has yet been made on which route to pursue.
Founded in 1992 by Daniel Rubin according to the outlet, Dune now operates, still according to the same source, in 37 markets and claims more than 1,000 points of distribution across Amérique du Nord, Europe, Moyen-Orient, the Asie-Pacifique region and Latin America. L'entreprise reportedly generated more than £130 million in revenue, driven in particular by growth in its US business and the launch of new platforms in Europe, including Zalando.
In January, Rubin told The Industry.fashion that international sales accounted for 35% of the group's business, with a target of raising that share to 55% within three years.
In a statement reported by the outlet, Rubin said that « Dune dispose d'une marque forte et de perspectives de croissance claires, en particulier à l'international », noting that the move remains « exploratoire à ce stade » and that « aucune décision n'a été prise ». He added that the company « examinera tout intérêt avec attention et jugera chaque option au regard de ce qui est juste pour le développement à long terme de Dune, de ses équipes et de ses clients ».
According to Dune, this process is intended to accelerate the brand's next phase of growth in the Royaume-Uni and internationally, continuing its expansion beyond its home market. In 2024, Rubin had already described a company that emerged from the pandemic « plus petite mais plus forte », with international growth as a priority.
The mandate given to FTI Consulting must now determine how Dune can support its next phase of growth and organise its governance, as Rubin prepares to step back from the company he founded.
