Hammerson is reported to have appointed Gina Szymanski chief financial officer and a director of the company, according to FashionUnited UK. She is expected to take up her role and join the board by 1 January 2027 at the latest, and is expected to move to the United Kingdom ahead of her official appointment at the company, which is based in Londres.
Gina Szymanski is said to be joining from AEW Capital Management, a US real estate investment manager, where she holds the role of global securities chief investment officer, based in Boston, Massachusetts. She is said to have started her career as a forensic accountant and equity analyst, before building experience in finance, capital markets, investment, REITs and corporate strategy.
Rob Wilkinson, chief executive officer of Hammerson, is said to have stated he was « ravi d'accueillir Gina » to the group, highlighting that she brings « une combinaison d'expertise sectorielle approfondie, de connaissance des marchés de capitaux et un solide historique de création de valeur ». For her part, Gina Szymanski is said to have expressed her enthusiasm at joining Hammerson « à ce moment de son parcours », saying she was « enthousiaste face aux opportunités dans le secteur du retail » and describing the company as « en avance sur son temps, positionnée de façon unique sur le plan opérationnel et financier ».
